Elevated tanks, clarifiers, digesters, and miles of ductile-iron pipe live in a punishing mix of moisture, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, and shifting pH. One blister in the lining can turn into under-film corrosion, leaks, or worst-case scenarios such as contaminated drinking water and plant shutdowns.

For twenty years NWTI has helped municipalities and utility contractors stretch the service life of both steel and concrete assets. Our approach is simple: inspect early, document clearly, and make sure every protective layer does its job before the system goes back online.

How we help

We open every engagement with a full coating & steel survey. Certified inspectors record dry-film thickness, adhesion, and holiday-detection results, then score corrosion using ISO 4628-3 and ASTM D610 benchmarks. The survey gives you a hard-number baseline for budgeting and planning.

During new construction or rehab, our NACE/AMPP team monitors surface prep, ambient conditions, blast profile, and each coat’s cure window, logging everything with high-resolution photos. For potable-water reservoirs we verify that the lining meets NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and follows the AWWA D102 system specified in the bid. In high-H₂S zones like headworks and digesters, we track MIC-prone areas closely and confirm the right acid-resistant topcoat.

When a failure shows up, we run root-cause analysis—salt and chloride testing, micrographic cross-sections, weld inspections—and deliver a clear path to fix the problem and keep it from coming back.

The NWTI edge

  • Vendor-neutral guidance. We sell no products, so every recommendation is data-driven.
  • Cross-trained inspectors. CIP Level III, AWS CWI, and API credentials let us cover coatings, welds, and structural integrity in one mobilization.
  • Rapid reporting. Same-day digital reports with photo evidence and thickness heat maps, ready for board meetings or contractor punch lists.
  • Safety built in. Confined-space entry, fall-protection, and respirator-fit crews keep the plant running while we work.
