Every critical joint on a tank shell, bridge girder, or pressure line is only as strong as the weld that holds it together. A pore, lack-of-fusion line, or wrong filler metal can turn that joint into the first point of failure, inviting leaks, fatigue cracking, and expensive re-work. Regulators and insurers write entire codes, such as AWS D1.1 for structural steel, ASME IX for pressure parts, and API 1104 for pipelines, to make sure that doesn’t happen. Certified welding inspectors (CWIs) are the front line of that defense, verifying procedures, monitoring work, and catching defects before a single bead is buried under paint or insulation. Skipping this step can mean cracked offshore risers, shutdowns, or, in the worst cases, safety incidents that dwarf the cost of a proper inspection program.

How we help

NWTI deploys AWS-CWI and CPWI certified inspectors who come prepared for the full life-cycle of weld quality. Before the first arc strikes, we review and stamp welding procedure specifications, confirm welder qualifications, and check consumable storage. During production we watch heat input, travel speed, and inter-pass temperature, completing visual examinations of every root and cap. Where the job calls for nondestructive testing, our team brings ultrasonic, magnetic-particle, liquid-penetrant, or digital radiography equipment and interprets the results on site, so there is no waiting for a lab report. Each indication is recorded in a photo-rich log that ties directly to drawing numbers and weld maps, giving fabricators and owners a clear, code compliant record.

The NWTI Edge

  • Code fluency: CWIs qualified to AWS D1.1, ASME IX, API 1104, and AISC ensuring one inspector can cover multi-discipline projects
  • Integrated NDT: In-house UT, MT, PT, and digital radiography minimize scheduling gaps and third-party costs
  • Procedure support: We draft, review, and qualify WPSs and PQRs so fabrication starts right the first time
  • Real-time reporting: Cloud-based forms push daily weld maps and defect logs to your team’s inbox before tools are down
  • Root-cause mindset: When defects appear, our inspectors pivot to failure analysis, recommending corrective steps—not just noting the problem
  • Vendor-neutral stance: We work solely for the asset owner, giving you unbiased acceptance criteria and leverage with contractors
